DAYTON, Ohio – The RMU women's soccer team dropped its Horizon League opener Saturday night, falling 1-0 to Wright State. With the result, the Colonials move to 3-4-1 overall and 0-1 in Horizon League play.
FIRST HALF
Wright State came out strong in the opening minutes, controlling possession and creating early chances. In the 11th minute, the Raiders nearly found the opening goal when Caitlin Burger's shot hit the top of the crossbar.
RMU recorded its first shot in the 31st minute when
Sydney Chontos put an attempt on frame, but Wright State's goalkeeper made the save.
Neither side was able to break through during the opening 45 minutes, as the Raiders held a 62% possession advantage heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF
Wright State broke the scoreless tie just eight minutes into the second half when Chloe Dunford found the back of the net to give the Raiders a 1-0 advantage.
After conceding the goal, the Colonials increased the pressure offensively and created several opportunities to equalize.

Sophia Cucchetti,
Fiona Fraser and Chontos all recorded shots on goal during the second half as RMU looked to level the match.
The Colonials continued to push late, creating chances in the final minutes, but were unable to find the equalizer as Wright State held on for the 1-0 victory.
