MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to Duquesne Saturday afternoon at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, falling by set scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-16.
Lauren Decker paced the Colonials offensively, finishing with a team-high 13 kills while hitting .379 for the match. Layla Todd added eight kills, while Keira Hornung chipped in four.
Kenlee Barnard orchestrated the RMU offense with 18 assists while adding five digs and three blocks. Anahi Alvarado led the Colonials defensively with nine digs and also recorded two service aces.
The Colonials battled throughout the opening set, staying within striking distance before Duquesne pulled away late to take the frame, 25-16. RMU recorded 10 kills in the set while hitting .171.
Duquesne controlled the second set, using a .387 hitting percentage to take a 25-19 advantage and move within one set of the match victory.
RMU continued to battle in the third set, recording 11 kills, but Duquesne hit .414 to close out the match, 25-16.
The Dukes finished the afternoon hitting .359 as a team compared to .117 for the Colonials. RMU finished with 29 kills, five aces, four blocks and 37 digs.

Junior middle blocker
Keira Hornung was selected to the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team after a strong weekend for the Colonials. Hornung totaled 20 kills, five blocks and three digs while hitting a team-best .341 throughout the tournament.

RMU volleyball (0-6) will return to action next weekend in Towson, Maryland, to compete in the Tiger Invitational, which features Howard, Arkansas, and host Towson.
