RMU Campus 360 tour
RMU Athletics features three athletic facilities on the Moon Township campus as well as the RMU Island Sports Center, located on Neville Island and a 15-minute drive from campus.
The
UPMC Events Center opened in May of 2019 and is home to the RMU volleyball and men's and women's basketball programs. Each of the three programs claimed conference championships during the 2019-20 academic year, with volleyball and women's basketball earning Northeast Conference (NEC) regular-season titles, while men's basketball won the 2020 NEC Tournament title. The men's team also won won its first Horizon League championship in 2025. The UPMC Events Center owns a capacity of 4,000 and is a cornerstone of RMU's strategic plan. In addition to hosting athletic contests, the UPMC Events offers the region an attractive venue for public speakers, conventions, expos, concerts, graduation ceremonies and family entertainment options.
Joe Walton Stadium opened in 2005 and is home to the RMU football and men's and women's lacrosse teams. The golf program also uses the facility for administrative purposes. RMU football won six NEC championships between 1996 and 2019, including earning the conference's first automatic bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs in 2010. RMU men's lacrosse claimed back-to-back NEC Tournament titles in 2018 and 2019. The men's lacrosse team has claimed a pair of championships in the 2022 ASUN and 2025 Northeast Conference titles while the women's lacrosse team was crowned 2024 MAC champions.
The
North Athletic Complex debuted in 1998 and is home to the RMU men's and women's soccer and softball programs. In 2017, the RMU Student Recreation & Fitness Center opened and houses office space for each of the three programs that call the North Athletic Complex home. The
RMU Student Recreation & Fitness Center features two indoor basketball courts, a fully-equipped weight room and cardio room, two exercise studios and locker rooms for soccer and softball.
Purchased by RMU in the summer of 2004, the
RMU Island Sports Center is the region's premier sports and recreation destination. Located just nine miles from downtown Pittsburgh on the western tip of Neville Island, the facility is home to the RMU hockey, rowing and track & field programs.
Clearview Arena has served as both the men's and women's hockey team home facility since the programs inceptions. The venue was renamed after the official credit union of RMU Athletics.
The outdoor track that opened in 2005 has hosted a pair of NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and was upgraded in 2021 and renamed the P3R Track & Field Complex thanks toÂ
a sponsorship agreement with P3R. As part of the sponsorship package, which was extended in 2024.
In addition at the RMU Island Sports Center, the
McPhail Boathouse opened in 2016.
