Robert Morris University head football coach John Banaszak announced the hiring of Tanner Schultheis as director of football operations in July 2014.

Schultheis is responsible for a number of day-to-day, non-coaching operations of the program. He coordinates team travel, team meals and assists with housing issues for student-athletes while also overseeing the program's budgets. Schultheis travels with the team to every road game and also has certain game management roles at home contests. He also plans team events, interacts with alumni, assists with team community service endeavors and works on special projects.

Schultheis has worked for three different Division I football programs, including two at the FBS level, and also has experience in the Arena Football League.

During the 2013 season, Schultheis was an intern with the RMU football program, assisting the offensive coaching staff in areas such as film breakdown and scouting reports. He also helped the program’s recruiting coordinator from an operational perspective and aided the Colonials’ social media efforts.

Schultheis was an intern with the Arizona Rattlers of the AFL during the 2013 season. He helped the coaching staff with player evaluations, scouting reports and statistical breakdowns as the Rattlers won the league championship, ArenaBowl XXVI, and finished with an overall record of 18-3. He also worked with the Director of Football Operations in the scheduling and finalizing of team travel arrangements.

Schultheis also served a brief stint with USA Football. He worked in operations for the Under-15 national team and was responsible for the scheduling and execution of team travel and events and the ordering and delivery of team meals. He was also an assistant offensive line coach and aided the coaching staff with player evaluations.

Immediately prior to his current stint with RMU, Schultheis was a recruiting and operations assistant at Akron. He also previously assisted the staff at Ohio University for over two years (2010-12).

A native of Poland, Ohio, Schultheis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports administration from Ohio University in 2013.
