Kody Van Rentergem is entering his eighth overall season with the Colonials, and his first as a volunteer assistant.

The 32-year-old native of Redcliff, Alberta, served as hockey operations coordinator for three years before being elevated to assistant coach and then associate head coach. Over his tenure with the Colonials, he has worked with the power play and goaltenders.

Per Schooley:

"Kody and I have been working together at the collegiate level for six years and have had a tremendous amount of success while sharing the same goals for Colonials hockey. Kody is an outstanding communicator, very good teacher and is a great asset to our program."

Van Rentergem came to Robert Morris after serving as a team assistant at Division III SUNY Fredonia.  In his time there, Kody served as the goaltending coach and held many responsibilities during the recruitment process for the Blue Devils. Before his off-the-ice duties at SUNY Fredonia, Van Rentergem played for the Blue Devils for three seasons as a goaltender.

During his career, Kody amassed the second-best save percentage and third-best goals-against average in school history. Off the ice, Van Rentergem assisted in the 'Learn to Play' program at Fredonia State, involving the Blue Devils in some community service initiatives.

Prior to college, Van Rentergem played junior hockey in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Brooks Bandits and also spent a year with the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Van Rentergem and his wife Megan reside in Pittsburgh with their dog, Norman.
