Robert Morris alum and former men's lacrosse student-athlete Eric Swagerty was elevated to assistant coach prior to the 2026 season after serving as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2025 campaign.
Since joining the staff, RMU has won back-to-back NEC Tournament championships and earned an automatic qualifier spot in the NCAA Tournament. Swagerty has coached 16 Colonials to the NEC All-Conference teams a total of 21 times.
In 2025, he was part of the staff that led RMU to an 11-6 record and a 6-1 mark in the NEC. Swagerty coached the NEC Player of the Year Bo Columbus and Offensive Player of the Year David Burr—both of whom received All-American Honorable Mention honors from USA Lacrosse. Additionally, Columbus was an Inside Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention recipient. The Colonials had 10 players named to the NEC All-Conference teams.
The following year, RMU set a program record with 14 victories, which included a perfect 7-0 NEC record and a 13-game winning streak. The Colonials swept the NEC major awards with Dylan Anderson taking home the NEC Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year honors, becoming the first player in league history to claim all three awards simultaneously. On the defensive end, Owen Tapper was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year. Both were named USILA All-American Honorable Mentions. RMU led the NEC with 11 All-Conference selections.
A part of the Colonials' 2022 ASUN Championship team, Swagerty played four seasons (2021-24) and tallied 32 goals and 25 assists for 57 points.
The Fairfax Station, Va., native graduated from RMU in 2024 with a degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management.
