Matt Stehlik enters his sixth season with the women's volleyball team. His primary duties and responsibilities include record keeping, computation, organization, presentation and analysis of the team's statistics and video.
Stehlik helps coordinate the statistical elements for the team both in practice and during matches. On the sidelines, he supports the coaching staff by tracking real-time stats that provide an informative assessment of trends.Â
A Pittsburgh native, Stehlik graduated from Central Catholic High School and later studied mathematics and engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh). At CMU he competed as the setter for the men's club team and led the team to back-to-back, top-ten finishes at the NIRSA Volleyball Championships in 2003 and 2004. Stehlik also played for the Renaissance VBC club program for three years. During that time, Stehlik was the team's setter and a defensive specialist as the squad advanced to the Junior Olympic Open Championships.
Prior to joining the RMU staff, Stehlik held the position of Director of Operations and then volunteer assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh for two seasons. Stehlik also spent time as the team manager for the CMU women's volleyball team and as an assistant coach for women's volleyball at Waynesburg University.
Stehlik currently serves as a coach and a tier trainer for Pittsburgh Elite VBC Premier Girls teams. He also works for StatEasy, a statistics company founded by Mike Ressler, a classmate and teammate at Carnegie Mellon. Stehlik is level one Impact certificated by USAV and has completed the AAU Positive Coaching Alliance program.
