Marshall Cooper

Marshall Cooper joined the RMU Football staff in April 2025 as linebackers coach.

Cooper most recently served as the defensive coordinator/line backers coach at the University of Charleston the past three seasons, leading the Golden Eagles to an 11-1 record, a Mountain East Conference title with a perfect 9-0 mark and a berth in the NCAA Division II Super Region One Playoffs this past season. His defensive was the top defensive until in the MEC, only surrendering 18.7 points and 106.8 rushing yards per game. Nine of the players were honored on the MEC All-Conference teams.
 
In 2023, Cooper switched over to the defensive side of the ball taking over as the linebacker’s coach and head strength coach. Charleston finished 10-2, 8-1 taking home the MEC crown for the first time in program history. The Golden Eagles advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Super Region One Playoffs. Cooper had three all-conference selections.
 
He started his time at Charleston in 2022 as a graduate assistant coaching the running backs and tight ends. The offense finished first in scoring offense, red zone touchdowns, total plays, 4th down conversions, and red zone scoring. Running back Chavon White was named MEC Offense Freshman of the Year, Don Hansen Honorable Mention All-American, 2nd Team All-Region and First Team All-MAC.
 
A standout linebacker at Chattanooga, Cooper played three seasons with the Mocs where he was First Team All-SoCon his senior year and Second Team All-SoCon is junior season.
 
Marshall graduated with honors with a degree in sports management with a minor in marketing from Chattanooga in 2019.
