Taking home the final Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week accolade of the 2014-15 season is junior Dan “Fire” Maier of the golf squad. Maier took home top honors for the Colonials in their inaugural trip to the NCAA Tournament last weekend, posting a three-day score of 216 to finish in a tie for 37th overall. Maier opened the tournament, which was played at the Course at Yale in New Haven, Conn., with a 75. He followed the next day with a 70 and closed out the tournament by carding a 71 to finish at 216. The performance marks the fifth-lowest score in a 54-hole tournament in program history. Overall on the 2014-15 campaign, Maier averaged 77.6 strokes per round, and his performance at the NCAA Tournament New Haven Regional marked the best score of his career. He is a native of Irwin, Pa.
