Women's Cross Country Comes In Second At Lion Invite

Altoona, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's cross country team captured second place today at the Penn State Altoona Lion Invitational in Altoona, Pa. The Colonials saw three of its runners finish in the top-5 out of the eight schools competing at the meet. Bucknell University tallying 39 points won the 5k race.

Overall standing were: Bucknell University (39), Robert Morris University (45), Juniata College (63), Saint Francis University (79), Penn State Altoona (159), Shenandoah University (183), University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg (187), and Mount Aloysius College (192).

Junior Brittany Strite (Sharpsburg, Md. / Hagerstown CC) and Freshman Emily Ingle (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) led the Colonials finishing in second and third place with times of 20.51.3 and 20.56.4. Rounding out the top-5 was Junior Sarah Antonaitis (Endicott, N.Y. / Union Endicott) in fifth with a time of 21.01.5.

Finishing out the race for Robert Morris were Freshman Michelle Crowe (Meadville, Pa. / Meadville), Freshman Liz Palcic (Ligonier, Pa. / Ligonier Valley), Junior Nicole Carter (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler), Junior Danielle LaPresta (Uniontown, Pa. / Laurel Highlands), and Sophomore Sarah Fyock (Schellsburg, Pa. / Chestnut Ridge). Crowe crossed the finish line in 13th place with a time of 21.46.6 while Palcic and Carter grabbed 26th and 33rd with times of 22.24.2 and 22.48.3. LaPresta and Fyock finished in 49th and 52nd at 24.18.9 and 24.41.3.

The Colonials will be racing again on September 30 at the Iona Meet of Champions, which is set to kick off at 9:30 a.m. in Bronx, New York.
