Men?s Hockey Posts 3-2 Win at Huntsville

Huntsville, Ala. / Von Braun Center - The Robert Morris University men's hockey team posted back-to-back wins for the first time this season and the fifth time in team history as they defeated College Hockey America rival Alabama-Huntsville, 3-2, Friday night. The Colonials, now 8-10-1 and 4-3-0 in the CHA, were coming off a stunning 4-2 upset of then second-ranked Notre Dame last weekend.

Senior goaltender Joe Tuset (Eagan, Minn. / Northern Michigan University) won his third straight start in goal, giving up two goals while making 31 saves. In his last three starts, the reigning CHA Defensive Player of the Week has allowed just four goals while making 94 saves. He is now 3-2-0 on the year and 5-4 in his career.

Offensively, senior Doug Conley (East Amherst, N.Y. / Tri-City Storm) had a goal and an assist while sophomore linemate Jason Towsley (Lasalle, Ontario / Leamington Flyers) picked up two helpers.

Junior forward Tom Biondich (International Falls, Minn. / Wichita Falls Rustlers) put Robert Morris in control of Friday's game just 2:04 in, scoring his second of the season with help from junior forward Joel Gasper (Crookston, Minn. / Billings Bulls) and defenseman Andrew Bonello (Brampton, Ontario / Milton Icehawks). Huntsville's David Nimmo tied the score on his seventh of the year at 11:21 of the period.

Neither team would find the net in the second period with Tuset and Huntsville netminder Marc Narduzzi making 11 and 10 saves, respectively.

The Colonials, however, stretched the lead to 3-1 with goals just 2:45 apart in the third period. Conley scored his fourth of the year on a Towsley assist at 10:06. The pair then picked up the assists on junior defenseman Chris Kaufman's (Gig Harbor, Wash. / Helena Bighorns) gamewinning goal, his fifth of the season, at 10:06.

The Chargers scored just 1:50 after Kaufman's goal with a marker by Steve Canter, but a tripping penalty on Nimmo at 19:42 ended the hosts chance at a comeback.

These two teams meet again Saturday, January 13, 2007, at 4:05 p.m.
