Hamilton, N.Y. ? The Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team fell behind, 2-0, against Colgate just 3:46 into the game Sunday afternoon before falling, 5-0, at Starr Rink. The Colonials fall to 6-5-1 on the season, matching their season long losing streak of two games, while Colgate improves to 7-7-2 on the season.
Jason Williams and Tom Riley put the Red Raiders up, 2-0, just 3:46 into the game, marking the only goals of the first period. Colgate tacked on two more tallies in the second session when Peter Bogdanich scored just over two minutes into the second and Mark Anderson made the score, 4-0, at the 10:09 mark. David McIntyre added the Raiders fifth goal of the game with 3:06 left in the final frame, giving Colgate a, 5-0, victory.
Senior goalie Christian Boucher (Orleans, Ontario / Cumberland Grads) made 32 saves in a losing effort for the Colonials, he faced a total of 37 shots. Freshman Jim Patterson (Kamloops, B.C. / Canmore Eagles) played 19 seconds and stopped the only shot he faced for RMU. Mark Dekanich stopped all 38 shots the Colonials threw his way picking up the shutout.
The two teams went a combined 0-for-7 on the power play, with the Colonials going 0-for-4. The two squads tied in the shot department with 38 a piece.
The Colonials return to action next weekend as they host Quinnipiac in their only two home games of the month of December. RMU and Quinnipiac face-off at 7:35 p.m. on both Dec. 7-8 at the RMU Island Sports Center.
Notes: Although the Colonials fell to Colgate in both games this weekend, they held the Raiders scoreless on the power play, killing all seven of Colgate's power play chances.
