Women's Ice Hockey Swept By #1 Mercyhurst

Box Score Erie, Pa. - Despite a 36-save performance from Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild), the Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team was defeated by #1 Mercyhurst today, 6-0, at the Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa. With the win, Mercyhurst has swept the season series against the Colonials (11-17-2, 1-7-0 CHA) for the second straight year.

The save total was Rossi's second-best this season only to a 53-save performance in her first collegiate start against Minnesota State on October 1, 2006.

Sophomore Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Oh. / Ohio Flames) started the game for Robert Morris, stopping 16 of 20 shots in 15:21 while allowing four goals. Rossi finished the game, giving up only two-goals in the second period.

Mercyhurst out-shot the Colonials 58-3 in the game, unleashing 25 shots in the first period alone. The Lakers scored four goals in the first period, two in the second, and were shut-out in the third period.

Freshman Meghan Agosta led the Lakers offense scoring two power-play goals and adding two assists.

Robert Morris returns home this weekend for their final regular season home-series against CHA rival Niagara on February 16 / 17, with Friday night's game at 7:35 p.m. and on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
