Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's track and field team split up this past weekend as half the squad competed at the University of Arkansas ? John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., while the other half took part in the Cal Carnival Invitational in California, Pa. Both events took place on Saturday, April 21.
Junior Kevin Argauer (Honeoye, N.Y. / Honeoye Falls) and Junior Aaron Gurskey (Weirton, W.Va. / Weir) gave the competition a one-two punch in the hammer throw as Argauer nabbed first place with a throw of 51.58 m while Gurskey picked up third with a toss of 49.17 m. Junior C.J. Ecalono (Monrovia, Md. / Urbana) edged Iowa State's Justin Peel by .05 seconds to claim fifth place in the men's 200-meter dash.
It was the young guns on display at the Cal Carnival Invitational as Freshman Chris Ressinger (Greenville, Pa. / Greenville) and Freshman Duri Greene picked up the top two spots in the men's javelin throw with Ressinger placing first with a distance of 56.49 m and Green with a mark of 55.80 earning him second.
Freshman Ryan Long (Glenmills, Pa. / Penncrest) nabbed second place in the men's 1500-meter run with a time of 4:12.25.
In the high jump, Freshman Jordan Dyson (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) and Junior Mark Caskey (St. Mary's, Pa. / St. Mary's) notched first and third place marks with Dyson jumping 2.00 m for first and Caskey in third with a height 1.90 m.
Former NEC-Rookie of the Week Freshman Michael Bowman (Berlin, Pa. / Berlin Brothers) finished the men's discus throw in first place with a throw of 37.02 m while Freshman Anthony Trunzo (Trafford, Pa. / Penn Trafford) also grabbed a first place in men's pole vault with a 4.41 m finish.
The men's track and field team jumps back into action this weekend as the team heads out east to the Shippensburg Paul Kaiser Invitational on Saturday, April 28, for an all day affair.
