The Colonials bested their previous record of eight ? an 8-0 win over Youngstown in 2002 ? in the 78th minute as they won their third straight game to improve to 3-4 on the year. Howard falls to 0-7.
The Colonials had 11 different players pick up a point led by reigning Northeast Conference / Brine Rookie of the Week Kathleen Caggiano (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon). Caggiano finished with three goals and an assist to increase her season total to 12 points on four goals and four assists ? all team highs.
Sophomore Daneen Stevenato (North York, Ontario / Newtonbrook) added two goals and an assist while junior Brenda Sasu (Gaitherburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) had a goal and two assists. Three players, senior Kathryn Kirkpatrick (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop), sophomore Kelly Hilderbrand (Fenelton, Pa. / Butler) and freshman Jennifer Tobar (Bradenton, Fla. / Lakewood Ranch), finished the game with a goal and an assist.
Freshman Jaimie Morra (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) tacked on two assists. Sophomore Caitlyn Lizik (West Mifflin, Pa. / West Mifflin) scored her first career goal and senior Ashley Balics (Toronto, Ontario / Mary Ward Catholic) and sophomore Chelsea Miazgowicz (Crescent, Pa. / Moon) each finished with one assist.
Robert Morris opened the scoring 2:01 into the game on a breakaway ? something that became a theme in the game ? and ended with Tobar's goal at 89:55. Of the Colonials 10 goals, nine came on breakaways as they continually exploited the Bison's offside trap.
Senior Elizabeth Moss (Claysville, Pa. / McGuffey) finished with four saves and the win. Jessamyn Perkins, who faced a slew of one-on-zero and two-on-zero attacks, played admirably making eight saves.
The Colonials look for their fourth straight victory Friday, September 21, when they host Ohio University in a 4:00 p.m. game.
