Huntingdon, Pa. ? Led by a strong performance from senior Sarah Antonaitis (Endicott, N.Y. / Union Endicott), the Robert Morris University women's cross country team claimed a sixth place finish at the Juniata College Eagle Cross Country Invitational this past weekend in Huntingdon, Pa.
Antonaitis dashed across the finish line in 20:36.0 for a seventh place finish. The top-10 finish marks her second in as many years as she finished last season's Eagle Invite in fifth place.
The Colonials finished the 5K meet with a team score of 118 while Slippery Rock University claimed first place and the crown with a score of 42.
Freshman Jessica Duffell (Punxsutawney, Pa. / Punxsutawney) was the second Colonial to cross the tape finishing the race in 17th place with a time of 21:09.9, cutting almost 20 seconds off her Colonial debut last week of 21:38.0.
Sophomore Emily Ingle (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) and freshman Jera Mennetti (Coolspring, Pa. / Punxsutawney) pulled in strong finishes with Ingle placing 23rd at 21:24.8 and Mennetti at 37th with a time of 22:01.6.
Sophomore Michelle Crowe (Meadville, Pa. / Meadville), senior Brittany Strite (Sharpsburg, Md. / Hagerstown C.C.) and senior Nicole Carter (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler) finished up the runners for Robert Morris. Crowe ran in at 22:41.5, notching a 55th place finish while Strite and Carter came in neck and neck at 68th and 69th with times of 23:22.5 and 23:22.8.
Robert Morris gets back into the swing of things on Saturday, Sept. 29, as the team travels to State College, Pa., for the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational. The Colonials are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
