Beck, Levering Lead Robert Morris Past Wagner, 18-8

Staten Island, N.Y. ? Sophomore Alana Beck (Carle Place, N.Y. / Old Dominion) and junior Ashley Levering (Glenwood, Md. / Glenelg) combined for 14 points as the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team coasted to an 18-8 victory over Wagner College in Northeast Conference play this afternoon at Wagner Stadium.

Beck provided three goals and four assists while Levering scored a goal and added a program-best six assists to help the Colonials (2-6, 1-1 NEC) notch their second victory of the season and even the all-time series at 2-2.

Junior Emily Tomlinson (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) netted her second hat-trick of the season, while picking up five draw controls, three ground balls and causing two turnovers.

Juniors Jenn Collins (Edgewater, Md. / South River), Jillian Howley (East Northport, N.Y. / Northport), Kara Blakeley (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) and freshman Courtney Bertolone (Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East) nabbed two goals each.

Senior Meredith Milsak (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton) and sophomores Missy Sunseri (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) and Ali Gibbons (Candia, N.H. / Manchester) rounded out the scoring with a goal.

RMU trailed for just 3:53 in the entire game and that was when Wagner opened up the contest, 2-0. Following the Seahawk tallies, the Colonials manufactured an eight goal run which lasted nearly 10 minutes.  During that run, Beck and Levering connected with six assists, while the other two strikes came on unassisted plays. The Colonials slowed the offense down through the final 15 minutes of the half, outscoring the Seahawks, 3-2, to take an 11-4 advantage into halftime.

The Colonials continued the attack in the second half with five consecutive goals to stretch the lead to 16-4. Wagner caught fire near the end of the game with the Seahawks outscoring the Colonials, 4-2.

Robert Morris played a near perfect game in the first half committing just two turnovers and finishing the game with nine. RMU held advantage in shots (47-24), ground balls (19-9) and draw controls (16-12).

Sophomore Erica Webb (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) picked up her first win of the season by turning away 10 shots in net.

The Colonials return home this weekend to host Sacred Heart on Friday, March 28 at 4:00 p.m.
