Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris Colonials led by sixth year head coach Rob Thomas wrapped up the 2008 Robert Morris/Duquesne Invitational with a 4-0 undefeated weekend. RMU's hard work earned Thomas his 100th win in the first match on Saturday against Marist and earned Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian), Amanda Graham (Melbourne, Fla.) and Alyssa Bennett (Ramona, Calif. / Ramona) all-tournament honors.

In the first match on day two of the Robert Morris/Duquesne Invitational RMU had to work harder than yesterday for the victory. Marist's strong serving performance in the first set gave the Colonials a slight falter, as they fell 19-25 to the Red Foxes.

Robert Morris and Marist traded points throughout the entire second set, with the battle ending in 29-27 RMU victory. Senior libero Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) ended the tightly contested set with a service ace. The Colonials carried over the momentum from the second set to easily win the third set 25-19 and then cleaned up in the fourth set with a 25-17 triumph to earn the match win.

The Colonials were led by senior outside hitter Wolthuis, who earned 16 kills and nine digs in the win. Sophomore middle blocker Jaye Hellmich (Costa Mesa, Calif. / Estancia)  put in her best performance of the tournament with 15 kills on a .333 average, to go along with three blocks. Middle blocker Graham also finished in double digit kills with ten, and put up three service aces.

Freshman setter Bennett dished out a match high 55 assists to go along with three kills on zero errors, one service ace and six digs, while senior libero Gibson put up big numbers defensively with 16 digs and four service aces. Senior right side hitter Cassie Lee (Vista, Calif. / Vista) put down seven kills on a .333 nick.

In the second match of the day the Colonials earned their 40th win against Saint Francis (Pa.) in three sets. Graham started off the first set on a good note earning four kills on four attempts, while Wolthuis contributed three kills in the 25-21 RMU set win.

Robert Morris continued to show their mental toughness as they downed the Red Flash in set two 25-19 and then finished up the match with a close 25-23 victory in the third set.

Graham displayed her consistency, earning nine kills on a .538 hitting average.  Bennett put in a solid performance as well, earning four solo blocks, 28 assists and one service ace. Wolthuis added eight kills to the victory and Lee finished with five kills and three blocks.

Saint Francis put up good numbers in the three sets, earning a total of 43 kills, seven blocks and 43 digs, but were unable to stop the Colonials. Saint Francis Outside Hitters Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, Pa. / Pensbury) and Kristin Buter (Bowie Md. / Bowie) led the Red Flash earning 27 of the team's 43 kills.

The Colonials head to DeLand, Fla. next weekend, where they will face College of Charleston, Nicholls State, the Citadel and Stetson in the Holiday Inn Invitational (hosted by Stetson) on Sept. 5-6, 2008.
