RMU Rolls Past Wagner, 104-56, for Sixth Straight Victory

Moon Township, Pa. - For the second time this season six players scored in double figures as the Robert Morris University men's basketball team rolled to its sixth straight victory Saturday night with a 104-56 win over Wagner at the Charles L. Sewall Center.

RMU improves to 12-7 overall and 7-1 in the Northeast Conference, while the Seahawks fell to 10-7 overall and 3-4 in league play.

Junior forward Rob Robinson (Waldorf, Md. / Globe Institute of Technology) finished a perfect 9-for-9 from the field and led the way with a career-high 20 points, while sophomore guards Gary Wallace (Montclair, N.J. / Seton Hall Prep) and Khalif Foster (Philadelphia, Pa. / Academy of the New Church) and junior forward Dallas Green (Indianapolis, Indiana / Northwest) each produced personal bests in scoring. Wallace finished with 15 points on 5-for-5 shooting, Foster added 10 points and Green 13.

The Colonials jumped out to leads of 6-0, 12-2 and 26-10 in the first 10  minutes of action in cruising to victory. Robinson scored nine of RMU's first 12 points, while senior guard Jeremy Chappell (Cincinnati, Ohio / Northwest) drained a three-pointer.  

Robert Morris shot 54.3 percent (19-for-35) from the field in the first half and 60.6 percent (40-for-66) on the game, marking the third time this season the club has posted a shooting percentage of 60 percent or better in a contest. Wagner shot just 31.5 percent (17-for-54) and turned the ball over 22 times.

The biggest lead for RMU in the first half came with 6:41 to go when Wallace hit a three-pointer to give the Colonials a 40-14 advantage. The Seahawks used an 11-8 spurt in the final 5:25 of the stanza to close within 48-25 at the break as Joey Mundweiler scored six points and Llewchean Radford converted a three-point play.

In the opening minutes after intermission Robert Morris stretched its lead to 59-29 after a layup from Robinson, and a three-pointer from Foster with 1:41 remaining gave the Colonials their largest lead of the game, 104-54. 

Chappell finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and four steals, while junior guard Jimmy Langhurst (Willard, Ohio / Willard) finished with 14 points and four assists.

Junior guard Mezie Nwigwe (Hyattsville, Md. / High Point) came off the bench and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds for the Colonials while also establishing a personal best in assists with eight.

Wagner was led by Radford, who recorded 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Jamal Smith and Mundweiler each scored 11 points.

Robert Morris returns to action Saturday, Feb. 24, when it travels to Teaneck, N.J., for a 7:00 p.m. tilt against Fairleigh Dickinson at Stratis Arena.
