Margott Nominated for NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge

Moon Township, Pa. - Senior forward Chris Margott (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Bay State Breakers) of the Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team has been nominated as one of 68 potential student-athletes to participate in the 2099 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge.  The prestigious event will be held in Washington, D.C. at the Verizon Center during the national championship weekend in April.

Margott, currently tied as the Colonial's leading scorer, also leads the CHA with 11 goals and 14 assists.  Earlier in the season, he was named to the All-CHA Preseason team and earned a CHA Offensive Player of the Week honor.  Over his four year career, he has tallied 115 points with 54 goals and 61 assists. Margott has scored three winning goals this season and holds an RMU hockey record for most power play goals.

Only one other CHA player was named to the Men's West Squad for the event.  Bemidji State's Tyler Scofield was also selected as a preliminary participant.

Two Robert Morris women's ice hockey team members were also nominated for the 2009 Frozen Four Skills Challenge.  Senior goal tender Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Ohio / Ohio Flames) and senior forward Kristen Miles (London, Ontario / London Devillettes) have been named potential finalists.

Over 140 nominations were received for the competition; however, the NCAA narrowed the field to only 68 before the final group of 32 is announced after March 29.  The finalists will be selected by a combination of fan-voting and also by a special selection committee created by the NCAA.

Margott and the RMU men's team will return home this weekend to face the first-place Bemidji State Beavers in a two-game series at the Island Sports Center.  Both games are set for a 7:35 p.m. puck drop.
