Ingle Breaks 17-Year Old School Record at Bulldog Limited

Athens, Ga. ? April 11, 2009 ? The Robert Morris University women's track and field team competed at the Bulldog Limited this past weekend hosted by Georgia University and came home with some top finishes. Freshman Gabriella Rinehart (Norristown, Pa. / Norristown Area) led the RMU throwers with an ECAC qualifying mark in the hammer throw, while Emily Ingle (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) broke the oldest RMU record (17 years) in the 1500-meter run, finishing second with a time of 4:44.97.

En route to her ECAC qualifying mark in the hammer throw Rinehart took first with a heave of 51.22 meters. She also earned top marks in the shot put with a lob of 11.92 meters for a third-place finish. Ashley Turici (Zelionople / Seneca Valley) notched a solid mark in the javelin placing sixth with a toss of 31.81 meters.

Junior jumper Melitta Brown (York, Ontario / Sacred Heart) tallied top marks in all of the jumping events. She finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.43 meters, second in the long jump with a mark of 5.63 meters and third in the high jump with a season-best height of 1.60 meters. Aisha Chisholm (New Rochelle, N.Y. / New Rochelle) also performed well in the triple jump, finishing third with a mark of 11.11 meters, while Lakeshia McCloud (Bath, N.Y. / Haverling) finished fourth with a leap of 11.05 meters. McLoud also competed in the long jump and finished third with a mark of 5.18 meters.

Samantha Simile (Washington, Pa. / Chartiers ? Houston) represented the hurdlers and finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.53 and placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.45.

The Colonials return to action on Saturday, April 25 when they take part in the Shippensburg Invitational.
