Philadelphia, Pa. ? April 4, 2009 ? The Robert Morris University men's track and field team wrapped up the weekend at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational and came home with some solid marks. Senior thrower Kevin Argauer (Honeoye Falls, N.Y. / Honeoye Falls) highlighted the meet with a silver finish in the hammer throw by tallying a mark of 170'06”.
Michael Bowman (Berlin, Pa. / Berlin Brothers) notched the 10th spot in the hammer throw with a toss of 146'06” and then placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 47'7”. Mike Morganti (Media, Pa. / Penncrest) also performed well in the shot put, as he placed ninth with a mark of 46'1.5”
Chris Spataro (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) finished fifth in the pole vault with a leap of 14'7.25” and teammate Anthony Trunzo (Trafford, Pa. / Penn Trafford) placed seventh by also reaching the same height.
Sophomore D.J. Smith (DuBois, Pa. / DuBois) represented the Colonial hurdlers with an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. He crossed the finish line in a time of 56.14. Charles Gladman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Cardinal Dougherty) wrapped up the Colonials' top finishers, as he earned a time of 22.06 in the 200-meter dash for a fifth-place finish.
The Colonials head back to Robert Morris this week to host the Bennie Benson Invitational on Saturday, April 11. The meet will take place at the track and field at the RMU Island Sports Center, located on Neville Island.
