Leathers Leads Colonials at Penn State National Invitational

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's cross country team continued its 2010 campaign Saturday, Oct. 16, by placing 27th at the Penn State National Invitational in University Park, Pa.

The Colonials finished with 792 points. Claiming the team title was Syracuse, which finished with 61 points, followed by Penn State (91), Villanova (95), Grand Valley State (139) and Cornell (178).

Leading the charge individually for RMU was junior Arthur Leathers (Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key), who finished 144th with a time of 27:56 in the 5.2-mile race.

Right behind Leathers were a pair of freshman in Fred Thompson (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Woodland Hills) and Kyle Olslund (Arnold, Md. / Old Hill). Thompson finished with a time of 28:13 to finish 152nd, while Olslund crossed the finish line in a time of 28:23 to finish 156th.

Robert Morris now has two weeks off to prepare for the 2010 Northeast Conference Championships, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 30, in New Britain, Conn. Central Connecticut State will serve as host.
