RMU Finishes Ninth at 2010 NEC Championships

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's cross country team finished ninth at the 2010 Northeast Conference Championships at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn.

The Colonials posted a team score of 230, while Central Connecticut State took home the team championship with a score of 30. Rounding out the top five at the 2010 NEC Championships was Saint Francis (Pa.) (56), Sacred Heart (74), Monmouth (105) and Wagner (172).

Individually, RMU was led by junior Arthur Leathers (Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key), who finished the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:52.1 to finish 31st. Right behind Leathers was junior Brian Mitchell (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton), who finished 34th thanks to a time of 27:04.9.

Rounding out the top five runners for the Colonials at the 2010 NEC Championships were freshmen Fred Thompson (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Woodland Hills), Kyle Olslund (Arnold, Md. / Old Mill) and Mac Byrne-Houser (Greensburg, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic).

Thompson finished 53rd (27:55.8), Olslund 54th (27:56) and Byrne-Houser 58th (28:06.4).
