The line of Brandon Blandina, Nick Chiavetta and Furman South was the latest to be heard from during an out-of-the-gate surge in which Robert Morris has seemingly gotten timely contributions from just about everyone.
Goaltender Brooks Ostergard's role throughout the hot start has been to see to it that such contributions mean something.
"From one week to the next it's been a different person stepping up," head coach Derek Schooley said of his 5-1-0 Colonials. "Obviously, you've gotta have great goaltending."
Ostergard, a junior from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, has provided the latter.
While the Blandina-Chiavetta-South line was combining for three goals and four assists in last weekend's 3-2 overtime loss at RIT and 4-2 victory at Niagara, Ostergard was playing a combined 123:41 and stopping 57 of 62 shots.
Osergard's .919 save percentage in the two games was consistent with the .924 mark he's posted while playing every minute for the Colonials this season.
"When a goalie's playing like this you ride your horse," Schooley said. "He's making all the saves he needs to make and he's throwing in some big saves."
Robert Morris is at Atlantic Hockey Association rival Holy Cross this Friday (7:05 p.m.) and Saturday (5:05 p.m.).
Last Saturday night's win at Niagara was the most recent example of Ostergard's penchant for coming up with timely stops as well as making saves in bunches.
One of those occurred on a breakaway Robert Morris surrendered less than two minutes in.
Another came on a shot fired off a cross-crease pass that forced Ostergard to move laterally to protect what at the time was a 1-0 lead.
Schooley has been especially impressed with the way Ostergard, 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, has taken to playing outside of his crease.
When doing so Ostergard is exposed to traffic but is also cutting down angles.
"When you're playing outside of the blue paint you're playing with confidence and you're challenging shooters," Schooley said.
And the numbers can begin to add up.
Ostergard enters this weekend's play ranked No. 21 in the NCAA in goals-against average (2.31), No. 22 in save percentage (.924) and No. 11 (tied) in winning percentage (5-1-0, .833).
Ostergard, Nebraska-Omaha's John Faulkner (5-1-0), Union's Keith Kinkaid (5-1-1) and Alaska's Scott Greenham (5-2-1) are the only five-win goaltenders in the nation among the 77 listed on collegehockeystats.net.
The more telling numbers as to the contribution Ostergard has been making are the 19-20-6 career record he's posted over the last two-plus seasons for a Robert Morris program that has gone 25-39-13 overall in that span.
"I don't think we can ask anything more from him," Schooley said.
More of the same might be more than enough for Ostergard and Robert Morris.
