No. 19 Robert Morris Falls in Overtime to Holy Cross, 3-2

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team rallied from two goals down to force overtime against Holy Cross but fell in the extra period, 3-2.

Furman South (Sewickley, Pa. / Bay State Breakers) scored with 8:30 left in the third period to tie the game to complete the rally for the Colonials (6-2-0, 5-2-0). Robert Morris fell behind two goals in the first period but scored once in the second and once in the third. Holy Cross (4-4-0, 3-1-0) claimed the win with a goal with just five seconds left in the game.

"I am proud of our effort tonight physically," head men's ice hockey coach Derek Schooley. "We fell behind early and we ended up chancing them all night long."  

Robert Morris fell behind in the first period when Mike Daly scored a power-play goal at the 6:49 mark of the first frame. The Crusaders stretched the lead to two at the 10:03 of the first period with an even-strength goal from Erik Vos.

The Colonials turned the tide of momentum in the second period with Adam Brace (Cobden, Ontario / Canisius College) cutting the RMU deficit in half with an even-strength goal at the 8:51 mark of the second fame.  

Robert Morris returns to action at 7:05 p.m. Friday when the Colonials will open their home schedule at Island Sports Center against Sacred Heart.

Game Notes

- The deficit for the Colonials ranks as just their fourth of the season. Robert Morris has rallied to tie every game this season in which they have trailed.

- Evan Renwick picked his first career point on Brace's second period goal.

- Saturday's game was the second overtime game for the Colonials this season.

- Robert Morris has not lost a game in regulation this season.

- The Colonials have not allowed an opponent score more than three goals in a game this season.
