Emmitsburg, Md. - The Robert Morris University men's track and field team finished sixth at the 2010 NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the campus of Mount St. Mary's over the weekend. Winning its sixth NEC crown in seven years, Monmouth piled up the points in the throwing events as they edged Long Island for the men's team title.
Central Connecticut State bested meet host Mount St. Mary's by one-half point for third place. Sacred Heart finished fifth to round out the top-five teams.
In the pole vault, Anthony Trunzo (Trafford, Pa. / Penn-Trafford) took the NEC crown with his 4.60m effort. Junior Chris Spataro (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) tied for sixth with his vault of 4.40m.
Sprinter Charles Gladman (Philadelphia, Pa. / Cardinal Dougherty) placed fifth with his time of 10.80 in 100m run. In the 200m event, he took fourth with a 21.86 mark.
Junior Dewitt Hudson (Rochester, Pa. / Rochester) continued his successful season as earned fifth-place in the 110m hurdles with his time of a 15.31.
With a 1.95m outing, senior Jordan Dyson (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) came in fourth the high jump.
In the shot put event, first-year thrower Stephen Mitchell (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Pittsburgh Central Catholic) picked up a fourth-place finish with his throw of 16.12m.
Freshmen continued to lead the way as Collin Ray (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) took bronze in the discus event with his hurl of 46.97m . Robert Saltsgiver (Hermitage, Pa. / Hickory) followed immediately in the fourth-slot with his throw of 43.79m.
