Robert Morris Falls on the Road to Davidson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team dropped the first game of their two game road trip, falling to Davidson, 15-6.

The Colonials (1-2, 0-0) ran out to an early 2-1 lead against the Wildcats (1-5, 0-0) but, Davidson used seven unanswered goals to turn a 3-3 tie into a 10-3 lead and Robert Morris never recovered. Emily VanDyne (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Thomas) led the Colonial offensively with a pair of goals and an assist. Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md. / Century) suffered her second loss of the season making four saves in net for Robert Morris.

The Colonials took an early lead as Rachel Engel (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper St. Clair) netted her second goal of the season with assist from VanDyne 2:14 into the game. Davidson tied the game with a goal from Paige Logan at the 24:38 mark of the first half. VanDyne gave RMU the lead with her second goal of the season 1:07 later. The Wildcats then tied the game and took their first lead of the game with a pair of goal the first coming from Erin Keitel and Lindsay Cooper. The first goals for Davidson came off free position shots. VanDyne tied the game at three with third goal of the season and second of the game at the 17:48 mark of the first frame. Davidson took control, following VanDyne's second goal, scoring five unanswered goals to close the game including two from Alanna Parker.

The Wildcats continued their run in the second half with two goals to open the second stanza. Elizabeth Sunseri (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) ended the Davidson run with a pair of goals with first coming on a free position shot. The Wildcats closed the game on a 5-1 run with the lone goal for the Colonials coming from Engel. Davidson 5-1 run included with two goals from Logan and Parker.

Davidson outshot Robert Morris 25-23 including holding a 12-9 advantage in the second half. The Colonials continued to post solid clear numbers going 15-for-16 on clear attempts. The Wildcats went 4-of-7 on free-position shots while the Colonials were held to 1-for-4 on free-position shots.
