Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's outdoor track & field team had its final tuneup for the 2011 Northeast Conference Championships by taking part in the Paul Kaiser Classic Saturday, hosted by the University of Shippensburg.
The Colonials took a limited number of participants, with sophomore Taylor Crawford (Woodbury, Pa. / Northern Bedford) competing in the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash. She finished second in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.82 and logged a time of 1:03.74 in the 400-meter.
Sophomore Nadia McKenna (Reading, Pa. / Governor Mifflin) posted times of 13.34 and 16.33 seconds, respectively in the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles, while sophomore Tori Pritchard (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon Area) posted leaps of 4.74 meters (15'6.50") and 9.86 meters (32'4.25"), respectively, in the long and triple jumps.
In the hammer throw, freshman Mekia Kauffman (Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern York) posted the top mark for Robert Morris with a toss of 33.71 meters (110'7"), while freshman Rachel Herbstritt (Wilcox, Pa. / Johnsonburg) finished with a mark of 33.53 meters (110'4"). Junior Stacy Stefanowicz (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Bradford) competed in the hammer, as well, posting a toss of 31.36 meters (102'11").
The 2011 NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships take place Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8, on the campus of Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J. The firsts event of the meet will be the 10,000-meter run, which will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
