Moon Township, Pa. - Freshman Michelle Schiewe (Swidnica, Poland / Czestochowska Second Liceurn) highlighted the second meet of the 2011 season for the Robert Morris University women's cross country team Saturday by finishing first at the Ohio Cross Country Invitational in Athens, Ohio.
Schiewe posted a time of 22:37.35 in the six-kilometer course and won the invite by over four seconds, defeating Allison Stillwell of the host Bobcats, who crossed the finish line with a time of 22:41.96.
The performance by Schiewe helped the Colonials finish second as a team with 41 points. Ohio won the team title with 27 points.
Joining Schiewe with top 10 finishes individually for RMU at the Ohio Invitational was freshman Marissa Polk (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic) and junior Kristie Domis (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin).
Polk posted a time of 22:47.79 to finish third, while Domis finished ninth at 23:42.20. Freshmen highlighted the meet overall for the Colonials, as Ashley Zielinski (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca East) posted a time of 24:06.57 to finish 12th.
Robert Morris now has a week off and returns to action Saturday, Oct. 8, by taking part in the Slippery Rock Invitational in Slippery Rock, Pa.
