Robert Morris Shutout by Niagara

Niagara University, N.Y. - The Robert Morris University men's ice hockey team fell in Atlantic Hockey action to the Niagara Purple Eagles 3-0 on Saturday evening.

After producing fast starts recently, the Colonials would allow Niagara to pick up the first goal of the game less than two minutes into the first period.  The Purple Eagles would double their lead on the power-play with 2:01 remaining in the period.

A scoreless second period saw the Colonials take thirteen shots on goal, none of which would find their way past the Niagara goaltender.  RMU would go 0-3 on the power play in the period and held the Purple Eagles scoreless on their three power-play attempts in the second.

The Purple Eagles would add a third goal to their advantage as they found the net at 7:21 of the third period.  Robert Morris would get seventeen shots on goal in the period but were still unable to solve the goaltending of Niagara.

The Colonials would get 43 shots on goal in the game as sophomore Cody Wydo (Southgate, Mich. / Motor City Metal Jackets) put six shots on net.  Making his third consecutive start, freshman goaltender Terry Shafer (Penfield, N.Y. / New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs) would stop 28 of the 31 shots he faced.

Robert Morris returns to action after a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday as they travel to Holy Cross for a pair of games that start on Friday, Nov. 30 with a 7:05 p.m. faceoff.  The second game will be played on Dec. 1 when the two teams will face off at 3:00 p.m.
