Jacklin, Cramer Notch Goals in 2-2 Overtime Tie

ROCHESTER, N. Y. – Feb. 17, 2012Ron Cramer scored his first goal in nearly a year to move into a tie for tenth on the Robert Morris men's hockey team's career points list and lead the Colonials to a 2-2 overtime tie with RIT on Friday night in Atlantic Hockey action.

Cramer (New Wilmington, Pa. / Indiana Ice) notched his first goal since Feb. 26, 2011 to snap a 28-game goal drought when he knocked in a loose puck for the game-tying goal 3:28 into the third period. The goal was the senior's 58th career point – tying the forward with Brett Hopfe (2004-07) for tenth on the program's career point list. Senior forward Brandon Blandina (Centennial, Colo. / Indiana Ice) and freshman forward Jeff Jones (Revelstoke, British Columbia / Merritt Centennials) were credited with assists on the goal.

Of Friday night's four goals, only Cramer's fourth and final score would come at even strength despite both teams ranking in the top ten nationally on the penalty kill. Robert Morris (14-13-4 overall, 13-5-4 Atlantic Hockey) and its top-ranked penalty kill would surrender a pair of power-play goals to the Tigers – just the second time this year that the Colonials have surrendered more than one goal while down a man all year.  Greg Noyes opened the night with a power-play goal on the game's first advantage, 7:52 into the contest to give RIT a 1-0 lead, and Cameron Burt would later reclaim the lead for the Tigers (17-10-4, 14-6-4) with a goal at 11:32 for home team's final goal of the night.

Sandwiched in between the two RIT goals was freshman forward Scott Jacklin's (Kimberley, British Columbia / Trail Smoke Eaters) eighth goal of the season at 13:03 of the first period. The freshman snapped a nine-game goal drought and an eight-game point drought when he temporarily tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal after being set up by senior defenseman Josh Jones (Scenery Hill, Pa. / Hawkesbury Hawks) and sophomore forward Colin South (Sewickley, Pa. / Bay State Breakers). South now has six points in his last six games.

Senior goaltender Brooks Ostergard (Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Bay State Breakers) made 44 saves to move to 8-9-3 on the year while Shane Madolora made 21 saves for RIT.

Robert Morris closes out the weekend with another battle against RIT tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at Ritter Arena.

Colonial Notes: Cramer's two minor penalties moved the senior within 16 minutes of Jeff Gilbert and the RMU all-time career penalty minute record…Cramer currently ranks first in program history with 106 penalties…freshman defenseman Tyson Wilson's streak of consecutive games with a point was snapped at four games...Ostergard's 44 saves are the second most the senior has made this season (two games with 47)…RMU was outshot 46-23 in the game…the Colonials blocked 22 shots in the tie.
