N.C. - The Robert Morris
University men's track and field team opened its spring season this past weekend by
competing in the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The meet was highlighted
by the performance of two Colonial throwers. Junior Collin Ray
(Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) and junior
Brendan Morales (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) placed in
the top ten in separate events. Ray took home eighth place in the shot put with a
toss of 15.36 meters (50'4.75"). Morales finished ninth in the discus at 44.74 meters
(146'9"). In other field events, Morales placed 11th in the hammer
throw at 47.53 meters (155'11") and 12th in the shot put with a throw
of 14.66 meters (48'1.25"). Also in the hammer throw, Ray finished
15th with a hurl of 45.32 meters (148'8").Â

On the track, two Colonials took home top-20 finishes. Sophomore
Chris Carper
(Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) finished 10th in the 400-meter
hurdles with a time of 54.68. Sophomore Dorian Rumble (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Penn Hills)
placed 15th in the 800-meter run (1:55.26) and 17th in the 1,500-meter run
(4:01.35).
The Colonial men's track and
field team continues its outdoor season this week at the Florida State Relays in
Tallahassee, Fla.
