Colonials Fall in NEC Opener

EMMITSBURG, Md. – March 23, 2012 – The Robert Morris women's lacrosse team fell to Mount St. Mary's 12-8 on Friday afternoon in the Colonials' first Northeast Conference action of the year.  

Defending Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week Erin Mossop (Schenectady, N.Y. / Guilderland) led Robert Morris with three goals for her first career hat trick while sophomore MacKenzie Lawler (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) tallied three assists in the loss. Robert Morris (2-7 overall, 0-1 NEC) also saw senior Colleen O'Donnell (Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's Academy) and sophomore Talia Waskowicz (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) notch two goals each. O'Donnell led the Colonials with three ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers in the conference opener.

Mount St. Mary's (2-7, 1-0) would be led by Kaitlyn Larrimore, who tallied a game-high four goals for the Mountaineers. Hannah Gutcher and Erin Seipp each tallied three goals in the win.

Sophomore Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md. / Century) made five saves in net for Robert Morris while Brigid McTavish made six saves for Mount St. Mary's.

Robert Morris returns to NEC action on the road this Sunday at Monmouth. Sunday's weekend finale is set for 12 p.m.
