NEW BRITAIN, Conn. / April 13, 2012 – Talia Waskowicz and Erin Mossop each tallied hat tricks as the Robert Morris women's
lacrosse team fell to Central Connecticut State 14-9 on Friday afternoon in
Northeast Conference action.
Mossop (Schenectady, N.Y. / Guilderland) paced
Robert Morris in the first half with two goals while Waskowicz (Pittsburgh, Pa.
/ North Allegheny), Lauren Roberts (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) and
Jessica Rutherford (Pylesville, Md. / North Harford) netted a goal each to send
the two NEC teams into the half tied 5-5.
Robert Morris (4-10 overall, 2-4 NEC) matched the
Blue Devils with 25 shots per squad in the contest, but Central Connecticut
State's six-goal stretch including four-straight goals from Ashley Perkoski to
open the second half proved to be the difference maker in the battle. Perkoski
would post a game-high five goals and three assists in the win for Central Connecticut
State (6-6, 4-2). Waskowicz would push an RMU comeback with two goals in the
second stanza while Mossop and Emma Baukhages (Gambrills, Md. / Indian Creek)
would also add second-half goals.
Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md. / Century) would
take the loss for Robert Morris with a three-save performance. Erin Delancey
made eight saves to pick up the win for the Blue Devils.
Robert Morris returns to action on Sunday against at
Bryant (12 p.m.).
