Joining next season's freshmen ranks at Robert Morris are Terry Shafer, Chase Golightly, Rob Mann, Matt Cope, Brandan Denham, Greg Gibson and Jay Llewelyn. The seven recent signees join David Friedmann and Zac Lynch, both of whom signed with Robert Morris last November, as the 2012-13 Robert Morris men's hockey freshmen class. Roy, meanwhile, will join the Colonials as a junior and will be immediately eligible per NCAA transfer rules.

"My assistant coaches (Matt Nicholson and Mark Workman) did an excellent job in completing this class. We feel that all the players will be excellent fits for our program as they are good hockey players and possess excellent character," Schooley said. "We are very happy to welcome them to the Colonial Hockey family and look forward to them being excellent ambassadors of Robert Morris University."

Shafer joins the Colonials after spending the 2011-12 season with the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs of the Eastern Junior Hockey League. A goalie from Penfield, N.Y., Shafer led the EJHL with a 2.32 GAA in the regular season and finished fourth in the league with a .921 save percentage. Shafer posted an 11-4 record with the Monarchs and helped the program to the ECHL playoff title.

A defenseman for the Prince George Spruce Kings over the last two seasons, Golightly has tallied 48 assists and 56 points in 84 career British Columbia Hockey League games. The Temecula, Calif., native finished his junior career as one of the top ten blue liners in career points with the Spruce Kings and was named the team's playoff Most Valuable Player as well as the Defenseman of the Year for the second-straight season.

Mann comes to Robert Morris after three seasons in the OHJL. The Oshawa, Ontario native split the 2011-12 season with the Markham Waxers and the Whitby Fury, tallying 27 assists and 30 points over the year. The defenseman joined the Fury for three games in 2009-10 and posted a career-high seven goals with the team in 2010-11.

A native of Lakewood, Colo., Cope has spent the last two seasons with the Wenatchee Wild of the North American Hockey League. In 106 career games with the Wild, Cope has accumulated 41 points and 20 goals as Wenatchee captured NAHL West Division titles in 2009 and 2010. The Wild advanced to its fourth-straight West Division finals last weekend.

A forward from Milton, Ontario, Denham joined the Oakville Blades in the Ontario Junior Hockey League for three games in 2009-10 before playing 98 games with the squad over the next two seasons. After leading all Blades rookies with 17 goals in 2010-11, Denham put up career-highs in 2011-12 with 20 goals and 41 points; bringing his career totals to 37 goals and 73 points.

Gibson is currently competing in the NAHL playoffs with the Amarillo Bulls. The Burlington, Ontario native skated in 52 games for Amarillo this season, posting 23 goals and 54 points after spending three seasons in the OJHL with the Huntsville Otters, the Hamilton Red Wings and the Oakville Blades. The forward has 67 career goals and 159 career points spread over his career including a personal-best 54 points this season as he was honored with Amarillo's Coaches Award for dedication on and off the ice. Amarillo competes in the NAHL South Division finals this weekend against Topeka.

A native of Saginaw, Mich., Llewellyn has spent the last two seasons with the Carleton Place Canadians in the Central Canada Hockey League. A forward, Llewellyn has 88 points and 40 goals in 108 career games including a personal-best 58 points and 24 goals in 2011-12.

Roy joins Robert Morris after two seasons with Alabama-Huntsville. The Chilliwack, British Columbia native finished tied for second on the Chargers squad with six goals and 12 points in 2011-12 after posting six goals and 15 points as a freshman. Before UAH, Roy skated with the Langley Chiefs in the BCHL from 2006-2010 and posted 167 career points and 86 career goals with the program.
