Moon Township, Pa. - Men's basketball head coach Andrew Toole announced today that Jervon Pressley (Charlotte, N.C. / E.E. Waddell), a 6'7", 210-pound forward, has transferred to Robert Morris University from Towson.
Per NCAA transfer rules, Pressley will sit out the 2012-13 campaign and will have three years of eligibility with the Colonials beginning in 2013-14.
"We're excited to welcome Jervon to our program," Toole said. "His skills and abilities are unique, and he adds size to our roster that we haven't had in recent years. Jervon is a true post presence who I think will be able to make an immediate impact when he becomes eligible after sitting out next season. The great part about Jervon sitting out next year is that he has an opportunity to get acclimated to the culture of our program, and I'm confident he'll use the time off to get better so he's ready to contribute in 2013-14."
As a freshman with the Tigers in 2011-12, Pressley appeared in 31 games, including 12 starts, producing averages of 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest. He finished second for Towson last season in blocks with 16 while averaging 17.4 minutes per game.
Pressley produced a career-high 11 points against Northeastern (1/2/12), hitting all five of his shots from the field and converting his lone free-throw attempt while also grabbing a career-high six rebounds. He also added eight points and five rebounds in his final game in a Towson uniform against Delaware (3/2/12) in the opening round of the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament.
A product of E.E. Waddell High School in Charlotte, N.C., Pressley finished his prep career as the program's all-time leading rebounder and shot blocker. As a senior in 2010-11, Pressley averaged 9.8 points and 10.0 rebounds in helping lead Waddell to 20 victories, a school record.
Led by Toole, Robert Morris tied a school record for victories in 2011-12 by posting an overall record of 26-11 (.703). The Colonials finished 13-5 (.722) in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and advanced to their fourth straight NEC Tournament championship game before falling at LIU Brooklyn.
RMU accepted a bid to the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT), where it advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to road victories at Indiana State and Toledo.
Over the last five years, Robert Morris owns an overall record of 117-56 (.676), with the 117 wins tied for ninth with Kent State among programs at the mid-major level.
