Robert Morris University women's soccer was shutout, ?-0, Tuesday night against local rival Duquesne on the Bluff in Pittsburgh. The Colonials, who are in the midst of a seven-game road trip, fall to 4-4-1 on the year. The Dukes are now 3-4-1.
Amy Vinopal scored twice for Duquesne, her first two goals of the season. She scored her first, and the game's first, in the 41st minute on a cross from Emma Coccia.
Caroline Lacy made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute with help from Stephanie Colon. Vinopal's second marker was set up by Cydney Staton and iced the game at 3-0 in the 68th minute.
Freshman
Antonia Grese (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon) provided the lone offensive highlight on a night that RMU was outshot 28-6 and did not record a corner kick. The freshman tallied her second goal of the season in the 84th minute, taking advantage of a Dukes miscue.Â
Junior
Becky Schoenecker (Cheswick, Pa. / Fox Chapel) made nine saves while facing 12 shots.
Robert Morris is idle until Sept. 30 for a rare Monday game. The Colonials travel to St. Bonaventure for a 4:00 p.m. kick-off.
