Searching for a First-Round Bye
Currently sitting in fifth place after the sweep of Air Force, Robert Morris remains in the hunt for a first-round bye in the 2014 Atlantic Hockey Postseason, an achievement given to the four teams atop the conference after the regular season.  With 19 points, the Colonials are just two points behind the fourth-place team and according to playoffstatus.com, RMU has a 22 percent chance of finishing in the top four of the AHA.

January Success
In the month of January, Robert Morris has gone 6-1-1 this season.  The Colonials have played over-.500 hockey in the month of January just once (2009-10 season) and the six wins this season are a program record for the month of January.
Nifty Fifty
Junior forward Cody Wydo became just the second student-athlete in program history to record 50 career goals.  Accomplishing the feat against Air Force on January 25, 2014, Wydo now has the program record in his sights, need just 14 goals to tie the mark held by Chris Margott (2005-06 thru 2008-09) who netted 64 career goals.

Going Streaking
Three Colonials - Brandon Denham, Greg Gibson, and Jeff Jones - are currently sporting five-game point streaks.  Gibson (three goals and four assists) and Jones (two goals and five assists) both have seven points during their streaks while Denham (three goals and three assists) has six points in the five most-recent games.

Previous Trouble in the New Year
In its first three seasons as a member of the AHA, Robert Morris had won 63 percent (31-17-6) of its games in October, November, and December.  In those three seasons, the Colonials won just 48.3 percent (25-27-8) of their games in January, February, and March.  This season, RMU won just 18.8 percent (2-12-2) of its games in 2013 while winning 81.3 percent (6-1-1) of the games so far in 2014.

Cody for Hobey
Junior forward Cody Wydo is the lone representative for Robert Morris on this year's Hobey Baker Award ballot.  Fans are able to vote for Wydo on the Hobey Baker website - hobeybaker.com - daily until March 9.  As of Thursday afternoon, Wydo has accumulated 1,050 votes.

Winning with the Penalty Kill
In victories this season, Robert Morris' penalty kill has allowed just two goals while successfully killing 93.1 (27/29) percent of the penalties committed, the eighth-highest percentage in the NCAA.  In losses, the Colonials' penalty kill operating at 65.0 percent (39/60).

Creating a Robert Morris Victory
All six Robert Morris victories this season have come when the Colonials have scored first, have not trailed at the end of any period, held their opponents to under four goals, and recorded at least 30 shots while outshooting their opponent.

Teaming Up with Jacklin and Wydo
Scott Jacklin and Cody Wydo make two-thirds of a line, but it does not matter who joins them to finalize the trio.  When Jacklin and Wydo have been paired together on a line, their grouping has combined for 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points in 18 games.  The duo has been paired together for each of the Colonials' eight wins this season.  Their most common linemate has been Zac Lynch who has skated in 12 games with them.

In it for the Long Haul
Returning from the holiday break, Robert Morris kicked off ten consecutive weeks of competition with the Three Rivers Classic.  Over the ten weeks, the Colonials will play 20 games, nine of which will be on the road with the remaining 11 contests at home.  So far, RMU has a record of 6-3-1 in these games.
