Erie, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University women's hockey team was spooked by No. 7/8 Mercyhurst University in its College Hockey America (CHA) opener, falling 3-0 this Halloween evening from the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Robert Morris (3-7-1, 0-1-0 CHA) was blanked for the first time this season, while Mercyhurst (7-1-1, 1-0-0 CHA) earned its fourth shutout of 2014-15.
The Colonials held a lone 16-11 edge in blocked shots, led by senior assistant captain
Katelyn Scott, who had four.
The Lakers struck first with an even-strength tally from Jaclyn Arbour about seven minutes into the contest.
Mercyhurst's second goal came two minutes into the middle frame as Megan Whiddon lit the lamp. At the 10:44 mark of the period, the Lakers picked up a third goal as senior captain
Rebecca Vint sat in the box for an interference call.

Robert Morris looks to rebound tomorrow afternoon with another game against its in-state rivals. Opening faceoff between the Colonials and Lakers is set for 2:00 p.m. from the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
