BUFFALO, N.Y. - March 24, 2014 - The
Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team suffered its second loss of the season on Monday afternoon against Canisius, 18-6.

Corey Karwacki (Sparks, Md. / Hereford) collecting the game's first goal,
Robert Morris (6-2, 0-0 NEC) fell behind early and never recovered as Canisius (4-4, 0-0 MAAC) held a 13-2 lead at the half.
A goal from
Katie Breeze (Ellicott City, Md. / Middletown) with nine minutes remaining in the first half ended a six-goal run by the Golden Griffins, but Canisius would pick up seven goals in a span of almost eight minutes to close the opening frame with RMU trailing, 13-2.
Anne Spewak (St. Louis, Mo. / Parkway West) scored the first goal of the second half to pull the Colonials within ten, but the Golden Griffins answered to extend their lead.
Karwacki scored her second goal of the game a short time later, but Canisius responded with three goals to grow its lead to 13 and make the score 17-4.
After Canisius picked up its 16th goal, RMU replaced
Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md. / Century) in goal with
Hallie Yancey (Wallingford, Pa. / Strath Haven). Â Pentz recorded four saves in 46 minutes of action.
With less than ten minutes remaining, Spewak also picked up her second tally of the game before the Golden Griffins got their 18th goal with 86 seconds remaining.
Rhyan Bofinger (Dowingtown, Pa. / Dowingtown West) closed out the scoring with 41 seconds remaining, making the final score 18-6.
Yancey allowed the final two Canisius goals and did not record a save in the final 14 minutes.
Karwacki and Spewak paced the Colonials offensively with the duo each recording a pair of goals in the defeat and led RMU with two points.
The Colonials won 16 of the 26 draw controls in the contest, 13 of which were claimed by
Jessica Karwacki (Sparks, Md. / Hereford) who continues to lead the NCAA in that category.
RMU returns to action when they make the short trip down the parkway to Downtown Pittsburgh and face the Duquesne Dukes on Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m.
