Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambrose Urbanic Field – The Robert Morris University women's soccer team struck first but couldn't hold on as they fell to Akron, 2-1, in the second day of action at the 2014 Steel City Classic hosted by the University of Pittsburgh. The Colonials are now 1-1 on the year after a win over Duquesne in Friday's season opener.

Robert Morris jumped on top for the second straight game as sophomore Antonia Grese tallied her second goal in as many games this season. Junior Madison Kozlowski started the play by finding Kristie Hamilton along the right sideline. Hamilton then played a cross into the box where Grese was able to find the back of the net in the 15th minute.

Hamilton and Grese have combined for all four of the team's goals this season, two for each. Hamilton also has an assist and leads the squad with five points early in the campaign.

Akron (1-1) knotted the game five minutes later when a weak clearance off a Zips corner kick was blasted home by Lani Smith. Another failed clearance in the 44th minute ended with Loreana Lonigro's cross finding Holly Ohradzansky wide open in the box with an open net.

Neither team found the goal in the second half as senior Becky Schoenecker came off the bench to make eight second half saves for Robert Morris. Junior Chelsea de Jager took the loss for RMU. Klaire Adee finished with two saves for Akron.

The Colonials play their third consecutive game at Ambrose Urbanic Field this Wednesday, Aug. 27. This time they take on the host Pittsburgh Panthers in a 7:00 p.m. game.
