RMU Opens 2014 Season at Father Bede Invite

Colonials earn third as senior Brianna Iannarelli finishes 13th

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University cross country team opened its 2014 season Saturday by placing third out of three teams at the 2014 Father Bede Invitational at Immergun Golf Club in Loretto, Pa.

Featuring a group that saw a trio of Colonials participate in their first cross country meet and just one senior, Robert Morris placed a trio of student-athletes in the top 25 individually.

Leading the way for RMU was senior Brianna Iannarelli, who placed 14th with a time of 21:58.3 in the five-kilometer course. Earning 22nd place for the Colonials was sophomore Kiera Mooney, who crossed the finish line in a time of 23:34.8, while freshman Madeline Menzie claimed 23rd in her collegiate debut thanks to a time of 23:47.8.

Rounding out the participants for Robert Morris were freshmen Samantha Logan and Adau Deng, both members of the track & field squad in their first years participating with cross country. Logan posted a time of 24:44.0 to finish 30th, while Deng earned 33rd place at 27:49.0.

RMU returns to the course Saturday, Sept. 27, by taking part in the Ted Owen Invitational, which takes place in New Britain, Conn., and will be hosted by Central Connecticut State.
