New Britain, Conn. – Central Connecticut State scored twice in the first half and held on to defeat
Robert Morris University, 2-0, in a Northeast Conference women's soccer match at CCSU Field Friday evening. The loss drops the Colonials record to 7-0 and 3-2 in the NEC while the Blue Devils improve to 7-4-3 and 2-2-1 in league games.
Delaney Lancor assisted on both Central Connecticut's scores, her first giving Emma Hubbard a look from the right wing. Hubbard rifled a shot high to the near post to give the host squad a 1-0 lead in the game's fourth minute. Lancor would then feet Charlie Branch on a give-and-go in the 33rd minute that made it a 2-0 game.
Kristie Hamilton nearly put the Colonials on the board in the 48th minute, sending a shot careening off the right post. Robert Morris had its chances, testing Blue Devils goal Nicki Turley, but she was up to the task. Turley finished with seven saves to earn the clean sheet.
Robert Morris ends a four-game conference road trip Sunday, Oct. 25, at LIU Brooklyn. Kick-off is slated for Noon at LIU Field.
