Loretto, Pa. – As it turns out, the match between the
Robert Morris University men's soccer team and Saint Francis U Sunday afternoon served as a preview for the first round of the upcoming Northeast Conference Tournament. The Colonials, however, will likely not want to witness the same ending as they suffered Sunday, falling to the Red Flash, 1-0.
The victory moved Saint Francis (10-5-3, 5-2 NEC) to second in the final season standings while Robert Morris (10-7-1, 4-2-1 NEC) finishes third. LIU Brooklyn went through the conference slate unbeaten at 7-0 and will host the event Nov. 13 and 15.
Saint Francis got the game's only goal in the 88th minute. Andres Vega sent a cross to Mario Mastrangelo in front of net. Mastrangelo settled, then found the upper 90 to give the Red Flash a 1-0 victory.
Senior goalkeeper
Brenden Alfery finished with 10 saves for Robert Morris.
