The Colonials enter the week as the highest-scoring team in Division I, averaging exactly 20 goals per game. RMU is coming off a two-game road sweep during which it scored a program-record 24 goals at Howard and added 20 more at Delaware State.
MUSKET SHOTS- This is the third consecutive year that the Colonials and Titans have gotten together. RMU claimed a 13-7 victory in Moon Township two seasons ago, paced by
Jessica Rutherford's four goals.
Brittany Byerly and
Corey Karwacki netted four each in a 12-11 comeback win in Detroit a year ago to the day.
- Senior midfielder
Kristin Yoviene leads RMU with 13 goals and 25 points through four games. The Maryland native also paces the squad in shots (22) and shots on goal (17); her 6.25 points-per-game average ranks third in all of Division I.
- While Yoviene is more than halfway to last season's 43-point total, junior midfielder Byerly is also off to a second consecutive blazing start. The native of Wexford, Pa., has scored 11 times already this spring to give her 60 for her RMU career.
- Junior
Jessica Karwacki continues to dominate on draw controls, with 64 on the season and 433 for her career, the highest total in the NCAA. She also leads RMU in ground balls (nine) and caused turnovers (six).
- Juniors
Emily Jamison and
Corey Karwacki have also stood out early. Jamison, an attack from Pittsburgh, has buried at least two goals in every game on her way to 11, while the midfielder Karwacki has been well-rounded with 10 goals and eight assists.
- Overall, the Colonials have recorded assists on 42 of their 80 goals to date, an impressive 52.5 percentage. 10 RMU players have at least one assist to their credit.
- Head coach
Katy Phillips has been able to show off her depth, getting 25 players onto the field in the opening two weeks. All eight freshmen have seen action, led by midfielder
Dana Davis and goalie Mac Duffy, both of whom have started all four games.
