The Colonials hit a speed bump on the road last weekend, dropping two games in three days against Northeast Conference foes Wagner and Mount St. Mary's. They return to Moon Township - where they are 4-0 this spring - for their final two home games of the season, featuring a matchup against defending league champion Bryant and a
Senior Day game vs. Central Connecticut.
MUSKET SHOTS- RMU is tied for fifth in the NEC standings with four games to play; the top four teams make the postseason tournament. Last year, the Colonials finished the season at 5-2 in conference, making the league playoffs for the second time in four years.
- Although they lost twice, the second half was much better than the first for the Colonials last weekend. RMU outscored Wagner and Mount St. Mary's 11-9 after halftime, helping to make up for being outpaced by a combined 19-7 score in the first 30 minutes of both games.
- Senior
Kristin Yoviene added five more points during the trip, stretching her scoring streak to 16 games. Dating back to last season, the midfielder has scored in 26 of her past 29 contests. She has a team-leading 52 points (30g, 22a) this year, giving her 155 for her career; she is 10 shy of Jenn Collins for the second-most in program history.
- Junior midfielder
Brittany Byerly continues to put the ball in the net, scoring five goals last weekend to push her season total to 29. In the process, the Wexford, Pa., native became the 10th Colonial to reach 100 career points. With 78 goals at RMU, she is two shy of climbing into the program's all-time top five in that category.
- Junior attack
Emily Jamison is also climbing the Colonials' career goal list after scoring a goal in each game on the recent trip. The Pittsburgh product is ninth all-time with 77 strikes in 45 games, and her 1.71 goal-per-game rate is seventh.Â
- Sophomore defender
Megan Wolfgang has come into her own in recent weeks. Her 12 caused turnovers are tied with senior position-mate
Kristi Marks for second-most on the team, while her 20 ground balls rank fourth.Â
- RMU still ranks first in the NEC in scoring offense with 15.3 goals per game, but it has fallen from the top spot nationally to fifth. However, the Colonials are less than a goal behind Winthrop, which leads Division I with 16 tallies per contest.
