After posting its best non-conference record (7-2) in program history, the
Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team enters Northeast Conference play against in-state foe Saint Francis. The Colonials have won nine straight games against the Red Flash, including a 13-11 decision last year in Loretto, Pa.
MUSKET SHOTS-Â The Colonials regained their spot as Division I's highest-scoring team and improved to 3-0 at home with a
21-16 victory over Campbell last Sunday at Joe Walton Stadium.
Corey Karwacki and
Emma Baukhages matched career bests with five goals apiece, while
Kristin Yoviene scored four. It was RMU's fourth 20-goal output in nine games.
- With all-time NCAA draw-control leader
Jessica Karwacki out of the lineup Sunday, the Colonials had to generate possession in other ways. They did so by breaking up seven of the Camels' 16 clear attempts and causing 15 turnovers in all. Corey Karwacki caused a team-high four to complement her seven points (5g, 2a).
- Although Yoviene continues to lead RMU in points (42) and Karwacki netted her second five-goal game of the year, junior midfielder
Brittany Byerly kept displaying her value with a season-high-tying five points (3g, 2a). The Wexford native has scored at least three points in seven of the Colonials' nine outings.
- Freshman
Dana Davis didn't win NEC Rookie of the Week for the first time in a month, but it wasn't because of poor performance. Her career-high four assists against Campbell accompanied one goal, three draw controls and two ground balls.
- Junior attack
Emily Jamison netted a pair of goals Sunday, her seventh multi-goal output of the season. Also, sophomore middie
Katie Breeze extended her goal-scoring streak to four games with a tally against Campbell.
- Sophomore goalie
Hallie Yancey earned her third start of the season Sunday, then freshman
Mackenzie Duffy took over with 12 minutes to go. The tandem has split duties in six games, with Duffy playing 386 total minutes on the year to Yancey's 161.
- RMU's offense has been in high gear for the vast majority of the season, with many of its goals the result of strong passing. In fact, the Colonials have assisted on 69 of their 148 total goals, good for a 46.6 percent assist rate.
