THE LEAD
Off to its best 10-game start in program history, the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team enters the heart of its Northeast Conference schedule with a two-game road trip. The Colonials begin the swing with a much-anticipated Friday matchup against Wagner, followed by a Sunday date at Mount St. Mary's.

MUSKET SHOTS
- There will likely be a little more emotion involved in the Wagner game, as the Seahawks eliminated the Colonials from last year's NEC tournament in the semifinal round. Wagner also took the regular-season matchup from RMU, which had previously won seven straight in the all-time series.
- As for Mount St. Mary's, the Colonials won last spring's meeting in Moon Township, although they are still seeking their first win in Emmitsburg, Md., in four tries. Robert Morris is 3-2 at home against the Mountaineers, but winless in five neutral site/road matchups.
- RMU got off to a promising start in NEC play with a 17-9 home victory against in-state foe Saint Francis last Friday. Eleven Colonials recorded at least a point as they stretched their winning streak to a season-high-tying four games.
- Senior Kristin Yoviene (4g, 1a) and junior Corey Karwacki (2g, 3a) finished with five points apiece against Saint Francis, boosting their season point totals to 47 and 40, respectively. RMU's top two scorers each have six games of five points or more this spring.
- The Colonials' defense maintained its stifling character last Friday, forcing 13 turnovers and breaking up 10 of the Red Flash's 23 clear attempts. RMU has caused a total of 41 turnovers over its past three games, all victories.
- Junior midfielder Jessica Karwacki returned from injury with gusto against Saint Francis, collecting 21 draw controls and scoring two goals. The NCAA's all-time draw-control leader has piled up 20 or more in three games this year, including a season-high 24 at Howard on Feb. 28.
- The Colonials' 17-goal output last Friday allowed them to reclaim the top spot in Division I in terms of scoring offense. RMU is averaging 16.5 goals per outing, 0.58 more than runner-up Winthrop. The nearest NEC team to Robert Morris is LIU Brooklyn, at 13.5 per game.
