Youngstown, Ohio – The
Robert Morris University indoor track & field team posted nine top-six finishes at the YSU National Invitational while competing Friday and Saturday inside the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
RMU scored higher than four of the seven teams it was matched against in the dual-meet scoring format, as it claimed wins over Canisius, Detroit, Oakland and VMI.
Junior
April Krivoniak surpassed the ECAC qualifying standard in the shot put for the second straight week. She placed fourth in the event with a toss of 13.74 meters, the fifth-longest throw in program history. Senior
Jessica Guyett was a couple spots behind her teammate as her season-best mark of 13.10 meters put her in sixth place.
Senior
Olivia Loy was the runner-up in the pole vault as she cleared 3.60 meters. In doing so, she reached the ECAC qualifying standard for the second time this season. Sophomore
Breanna Manzolillo tied for fourth in the same event by clearing the bar at 3.30 meters.
Junior
Rachel Boody came in third place in the weight throw with a career-best fling of 15.61 meters.
Freshman
Lilly Harnish was the Colonials' top finisher in both the high jump and the triple jump. She came in fifth in the former event (1.60 meters) and was 12th, among 38 competitors, in the latter (10.94 meters).
Freshmen
Madison Mueseler and
Mathilde Terleth came in fifth and sixth in the 500-meter dash with times of 1:18.39 and 1:18.80, respectively. Mueseler posted the best time by a Colonial this season in the event while running it for the first time as a collegian.
That same duo was part of RMU's 4x400-meter relay team that came in sixth among 23 teams with a time of 4:01.57. It is the fastest such time for a Colonial team since the 2006-07 season. Senior
Tatianna Struble ran the opening leg and was followed by Terleth, senior
Maria Scanlon and Mueseler.
Sophomore
Rachel Crane finished ninth, among 60 entrants, in the 800-meter run. Her time of 2:18.75 stands as the fifth-fastest in program history.
Sophomore
Maggie Prorok placed 11th in the 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 18:33.91, the sixth-fastest in the event in school history.
Junior
Tanel Lewis was RMU's top finisher in the long jump as her leap of 5.19 meters tied her career best. Terleth was right behind her in 14th place in the same event with a bound of 5.15 meters.
RMU will take next weekend off before it competes for conference titles the following weekend. The Colonials will compete in the Northeast Conference Championships beginning Friday, Feb. 19, in Staten Island, N.Y.
